1440p (2560 × 1440) on a 27-inch screen is the sweet spot for most PC gamers: noticeably sharper than 1080p, and much easier to run at high frame rates than 4K. The big decision now is IPS or OLED. IPS is cheaper and has no burn-in worries; OLED has perfect blacks and lightning-fast response, but costs more and needs a bit of care. (Here’s how we choose products.)

  • Best for most people: MSI MAG 275QF (#1)
  • Best affordable OLED: Samsung Odyssey OLED G5 (#2)
  • Best fast IPS: Lenovo Legion 27Q-10 (#3)

FAQ

Is 1440p worth it over 1080p?

On a 27-inch screen, yes for most people. It’s much sharper, and modern mid-range graphics cards can run it at high frame rates.

IPS or OLED?

IPS (#1, #3, #6) is cheaper with no burn-in worries. OLED (#2, #4, #7) has perfect blacks and faster response, but costs more and needs care with static images.

What refresh rate do I need?

144–180Hz suits most players. 240Hz and up is for competitive shooters, and you need a PC that can hit those frame rates.

Can I use these with a PS5?

Check the HDMI ports. The Lenovo (#3) and MSI 274QP (#4) list HDMI 2.1. The MSI 275QF (#1) lists HDMI 2.0b at up to 144Hz.
