Buying for someone with a PS5 is harder than it looks. They’ve probably already got the games they want, and plenty of accessories only fit one model – Sony’s own console covers for the original and Slim don’t fit the PS5 Pro. So everything below either fits every PS5 or says clearly what it needs. (Here’s how we choose products.)
Not sure which model they’ve got? The model number is on the console’s label: Sony’s covers are grouped as CFI-1000 (original), CFI-2000 (Slim) and CFI-7021 (Pro). Our table further down shows what fits each one.
- Best useful gift: Sony DualSense Charging Station (#1)
- Best for co-op or PC play: DualSense Midnight Black + USB cable (#2)
- Can’t go wrong: PlayStation Store gift card (#3)
- The big one: PlayStation Portal (#4)

1. Sony PlayStation 5 DualSense Charging Station (CFI-ZDS1)
by PlayStation
Price & availability on Amazon.co.uk
Who it’s for: Any PS5 owner with two controllers, or anyone tired of charging pads from the console.
Verdict: The gift they’ll use every day. Sony’s own dock charges two DualSense (or DualSense Edge) controllers at once without plugging them into the console, and Sony lists an AC adapter and power cord in the box, so it runs from the wall. It’s not exciting, but it’s the one accessory most PS5 owners end up buying for themselves.
What we like
- Official Sony accessory – charges two pads at once
- Also charges DualSense Edge (Sony)
- AC adapter and power cord in the box (Sony)
- Sold by Amazon when we checked
Worth knowing
- Needs a mains socket
- A practical gift rather than an exciting one
Key specs
- Charges
- 2 × DualSense or DualSense Edge (Sony)
- In the box
- Station, AC adapter, AC power cord, manual (Sony)
- Fits
- Every PS5 model (it's for the controller, not the console)

2. DualSense Wireless Controller – Midnight Black + USB Cable for PC
by PlayStation
Price & availability on Amazon.co.uk
Who it’s for: PS5 owners who play local co-op, need a spare, or also game on a PC.
Verdict: Every PS5 comes with one controller, so a second one is never wasted. This bundle is the official DualSense in Midnight Black with a USB cable included. The listing focuses on PC use – connect by Bluetooth or USB, with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers in select PC games and firmware updates through the PlayStation Accessories app – but it’s the same controller that works with every PS5.
What we like
- Official controller – works with every PS5
- USB cable included for PC or charging
- Also works on PC via Bluetooth or USB (listing)
- Sold by Amazon when we checked
Worth knowing
- A spare pad is a useful gift rather than a surprise

3. PlayStation Store Gift Card £50 (UK account, digital code)
by PlayStation
Price & availability on Amazon.co.uk
Who it’s for: Anyone buying for a PS5 owner whose game collection is a mystery.
Verdict: Impossible to get wrong – they choose the game, add-on or subscription themselves. The code is redeemed on PlayStation Store. The one catch: the listing says it’s for a UK PSN account, so check their account is UK-registered (most UK players’ are). Amazon’s listing also offers other values if £50 isn’t right.
What we like
- They pick exactly what they want
- Delivered as a code, so it’s a good last-minute gift
- Sold by Amazon’s digital arm (Amazon Media EU)

4. PlayStation Portal Remote Player – Midnight Black
by PlayStation
Price & availability on Amazon.co.uk
Who it’s for: PS5 owners who share the TV with the rest of the household, or want to play in another room.
Verdict: The big-ticket gift. Portal is an 8-inch handheld with DualSense controls built in that streams games installed on their PS5 over Wi-Fi, so they can keep playing while someone else watches TV. Sony is clear about the limits: it needs their PS5 (on or in Rest Mode), Wi-Fi of at least 5Mbps (15Mbps recommended), and VR games won’t work. No PS Plus is needed for Remote Play. Audio is through PlayStation Link devices, a 3.5mm wired headset or the built-in speakers – not ordinary Bluetooth earbuds.
What we like
- Play on an 8-inch 1080p screen while the TV’s in use
- Haptic feedback and adaptive triggers in supported games
- No PS Plus needed for Remote Play (Sony)
- Sold by Amazon when we checked (also in White)
Worth knowing
- Not a standalone console – needs their PS5 and good Wi-Fi
- No standard Bluetooth audio – PlayStation Link or wired only (Sony)
- PS VR/VR2 games aren’t compatible (Sony)
Key specs
- Screen
- 8" LCD, 1080p, up to 60fps (Sony)
- Needs

by PowerA
Price & availability on Amazon.co.uk
Who it’s for: Portal owners who carry it around the house or take it away – or as a pair with #4.
Verdict: A neat smaller gift for someone who already owns a Portal. The listing describes a sturdy outer shell with a moulded interior, a padded screen flap with a mesh pocket for cables, a carry handle and a pass-through so you can charge the Portal inside the case. It’s officially licensed by PlayStation, with a 2-year limited warranty.
What we like
- Charge the Portal while it’s in the case
- Padded screen flap with a mesh pocket

6. PlayStation Plus Essential 12 Months (£50 PS Store credit, UK account)
by PlayStation
Price & availability on Amazon.co.uk
Who it’s for: PS5 owners who play online multiplayer and pay for PS Plus Essential themselves.
Verdict: If they play online, this pays for a year of it. You get PSN credit to redeem for 12 months of PS Plus Essential, which the listing says covers online multiplayer, monthly games, cloud storage for game saves and store discounts. Check they’re not already on Extra or Premium, and like the gift card, it’s for a UK account.

7. GXTrust GXT 229 PS5 Vertical Stand (25596), White
by GXTrust
Price & availability on Amazon.co.uk
Who it’s for: PS5 owners short on shelf space – and buyers who don’t know which model they’ve got.
Verdict: One of the few stands whose listing names all three models: original, Slim and Pro. It has a thumb screw so there’s no screwdriver needed, an adapter for the original PS5 in the box, and LED edge lighting with six colours or a breathing effect, powered by the included USB-C-to-A cable.
What we like
- Listing says it fits original, Slim and Pro
- Adapter for the original PS5 included
- Tool-free fitting with a thumb screw
- Sold by Amazon when we checked

by GXTrust
Price & availability on Amazon.co.uk
Who it’s for: PS5 owners with one controller who want somewhere tidy to drop it.
Verdict: A cheaper, single-pad alternative to #1. The DualSense sits on the dock and, according to the listing, fully charges in under three hours. A multicolour LED shows charging and charged, and there’s an anti-skid pad. It comes with a 1m USB-C-to-C cable to connect to the console or a wall adapter – the listing doesn’t mention a plug in the box.
What we like
- Simple place-on design
- Full charge in under 3 hours (listing)
- USB-C-to-C cable included
- Sold by Amazon when we checked
Worth knowing

10. GXTrust 4-pack PS5 Thumb Grips (24170)
by GXTrust
Price & availability on Amazon.co.uk
Who it’s for: Any PS5 player – a cheap stocking filler that protects the controller’s sticks.
Verdict: The smallest gift here. Four thumb grips that slip over the DualSense sticks – two of them glow in the dark. The listing says the dotted surface adds grip and stops wear on the stock sticks, and they’re easy to fit, remove and clean.
What we like
- Four grips, two glow in the dark
- Protects the controller’s sticks from wear
- Sold by Amazon when we checked
Worth knowing
- Some players don’t like the feel of grips

FAQ
Do PS5 Slim covers fit the PS5 Pro?
No. Sony’s compatibility guide says both the original (CFI-1000) and Slim (CFI-2000) console covers are not compatible with the PS5 Pro. Pro covers are a separate set.
How do I tell which PS5 model they have?
Check the model number on the console’s label. Sony groups covers by CFI-1000 (original), CFI-2000 (Slim) and CFI-7021 (Pro). If you can’t check, stick to gifts that fit every model – everything on this page except console covers does.
Is PlayStation Portal a good gift?
For someone who shares the TV, yes. But it’s not a standalone console: it streams games from their PS5 over Wi-Fi, needs at least 5Mbps (15Mbps recommended), and only works with PlayStation Link or wired audio, not ordinary Bluetooth earbuds.
Can you buy PS Plus as a gift?
Yes – as PSN credit for a 12-month membership (#6). It’s for UK accounts, and check they don’t already have a higher tier.
What's a good cheap PS5 stocking filler?
Thumb grips (#10), a charging dock (#8) or a lower-value PS Store gift card.
