Working from home sounds cosy until it’s January, the heating’s off to save money, your tea went cold an hour ago and your neck aches from looking down at a laptop. The best gifts for home workers fix one of those small, daily annoyances. So instead of novelty mugs, I’ve grouped these by the problem they solve: cold hands and cold drinks first, then posture, then a better coffee break. Every pick is sold on Amazon UK, and I’ve checked each one for UK plugs and sellers (two popular gifts didn’t make it, see below). (Here’s how we choose products.)

Best for cold hands

1. OCOOPA UT2S Mini Rechargeable Hand Warmers (2-pack)

by OCOOPA

Who it’s for: Home workers who keep the heating low, people who feel the cold in their hands, and anyone who also does a cold school run or dog walk.

Verdict: The most useful small gift for a chilly home office. It’s a pair of pocket-sized warmers that snap together magnetically into one, or split so you can hold one in each hand. Each has three heat levels and a battery-level light, and they charge over USB-C from a single split cable, so there’s no mains plug to worry about. OCOOPA quotes 4–6 hours per warmer. They’re just as handy away from the desk.

What we like

  • Split into two or snap together as one
  • Three heat levels and a battery indicator
  • USB-C charging, so no plug or adaptor issues
  • Also useful outdoors, not just at the desk

Worth knowing

  • Around 3 hours to fully charge, per the listing
  • Sold by a third-party seller (dispatched by Amazon when we checked)

Best for keeping a brew hot

2. Stanley Aerolight Transit Mug 0.35L

by Stanley

Who it’s for: Anyone who makes a cuppa, gets pulled into a call and finds it stone cold an hour later.

Verdict: No batteries, no app, no plug – just a well-made insulated mug that keeps a drink hot for up to four hours (or cold for six), according to Stanley. The locking drink-through lid is leakproof, so it can sit next to a keyboard without much worry, and the whole thing goes in the dishwasher. It also fits a car cup holder, so it works for the occasional office day too. It’s the low-fuss alternative to a heated smart mug.

What we like

  • Hot for up to 4 hours, cold for up to 6 (per Stanley)
  • Leakproof locking lid – safer next to a laptop
  • Every part is dishwasher safe
  • Sold by Amazon when we checked

Worth knowing

  • 0.35L is a mug, not a flask
  • It keeps drinks hot rather than at an exact temperature

Best for long typing days

3. Kensington Duo Gel Keyboard and Mouse Wrist Rest Set (K52920WW)

by Kensington

Who it’s for: Anyone who types all day on a full-size keyboard and mouse, rather than straight on a laptop.

Verdict: A small, practical upgrade that gets used for hours every day. You get a gel keyboard wrist rest, 19 inches (about 48cm) long, and a matching gel mouse pad. The gel pillows follow the natural curve of your wrist, and ventilation channels help keep hands cool and dry. The soft finish wipes clean. It’s not a glamorous gift, but it’s one people keep using for years.

What we like

  • Covers both keyboard and mouse in one set
  • Ventilation channels to stop sweaty wrists
  • Wipe-clean finish
  • Sold by Amazon when we checked

Worth knowing

  • Only really useful with a separate keyboard and mouse
  • A practical gift rather than an exciting one

Best budget laptop stand

4. Amazon Basics Foldable Laptop Stand (6 angles)

by Amazon Basics

Who it’s for: Anyone working off a laptop at the kitchen table who wants the screen higher without spending much.

Verdict: The cheapest way to stop hunching over a laptop. This folding aluminium stand weighs just 258g, has six angle settings and fits laptops from 10 to 15.6 inches. The open design lets air flow under the laptop, and anti-slip pads hold it in place. Amazon is upfront that it’s light, so it can wobble if you type straight on the laptop. Pair it with a separate keyboard and mouse for long days.

What we like

  • Very light and folds away
  • Six angles to raise the screen nearer eye level
  • Fits 10–15.6-inch laptops
  • Sold by Amazon when we checked

Worth knowing

  • Can move if you type directly on the laptop (per the listing)
  • Works best with a separate keyboard and mouse

Best for working from the sofa

5. Duronic DML121 Adjustable Laptop Stand

by Duronic

Who it’s for: Home workers who don’t have a proper desk, or like to move to the sofa or armchair in the afternoon.

Verdict: A much more flexible stand than a basic riser. Each leg has three joints, and each joint locks into 24 positions, so it works as a desk riser, an over-the-lap table or a reading stand. The 52 × 26cm platform holds laptops up to 16 inches and up to 10kg, with rubber grip pads, a front lip and a mesh base for airflow. It folds flat and needs no assembly. Duronic admits it takes a little practice to get the angles right.

What we like

  • Works on a desk, over your lap or as a side table
  • Big 52 × 26cm platform for up to 16-inch laptops
  • Folds flat, with no assembly

Worth knowing

  • Lots of joints to set, so it’s fiddly at first (per Duronic)
  • Sold by Duronic rather than Amazon, and stock was low when we checked

Best for coffee nerds

6. Hario V60 Ceramic Coffee Dripper, Size 02

by Hario

Who it’s for: Anyone who takes their coffee seriously and would enjoy a five-minute ritual between calls.

Verdict: The classic pour-over cone, and a great gift for someone who likes good coffee but doesn’t want a machine. It’s made from Arita-yaki porcelain, a traditional Japanese ceramic, with a 60° cone, spiral ridges and one large hole, so you control the flavour by how fast you pour. The size 02 makes 1 to 4 cups and comes with a measuring spoon and brewing guide.

What we like

  • Great coffee without a machine
  • Ceramic and dishwasher safe
  • Measuring spoon and brewing guide included
  • Sold by a third-party seller (VIA CREMA) when we checked

Worth knowing

  • Needs V60 paper filters – the listing doesn’t say any are included
  • Pour-over takes a bit of practice

Best for a pot that stays hot

7. Bodum Columbia Insulated Cafetière, 1L (8 cup)

by Bodum

Who it’s for: People who make a big pot in the morning and refill all through the day, or two people working from the same kitchen table.

Verdict: A cafetière that keeps the second cup hot. The double-wall stainless-steel body keeps coffee hot for up to about two hours, according to Bodum, and the 1-litre size makes about four mugs. There are no paper filters or pods to buy, as it uses a reusable silicone and steel mesh filter, and it goes in the dishwasher. It’s a solid, long-lasting gift.

What we like

  • Keeps coffee hot for up to about 2 hours (per Bodum)
  • 1L – about four mugs
  • Reusable filter, no papers or pods
  • Dishwasher safe; sold by Amazon when we checked

Worth knowing

  • Cafetière coffee has more sediment than filter coffee
  • Bigger than a solo coffee drinker might need

From the Amazon UK listings, checked on 6 October 2026. Sellers can change, so check the listing before you buy.

Which one should you get?

  • They’re always cold: the OCOOPA hand warmers, plus the Stanley mug if their tea keeps going cold.
  • They work on a laptop at the kitchen table: the Amazon Basics stand, or the Duronic if they also work from the sofa.
  • They have a proper desk setup: the Kensington wrist rests.
  • They love coffee: the Hario V60 for one person who enjoys the ritual, the Bodum Columbia for big pots or two people at home.
  • Their chair is the real problem: see our office chairs under £200 guide instead.

What we left out and why

  • Heated desk pads and Ember smart mugs: both are popular WFH gifts, but the listings we checked on Amazon UK were US imports sold by Amazon US through the Global Store, where the manufacturer warranty doesn’t apply. UK buyers’ reviews mention shaver-type, US and euro plugs. We’ll add them back if a UK-stocked version appears.
  • Office chairs, standing desks and monitor arms: they’re big, personal purchases with their own guides, not surprise gifts.
  • Novelty mugs and “WFH survival kits”: fun for a minute, but nothing here that solves a problem.
  • Anything with a subscription: a gift shouldn’t come with a monthly bill.

FAQ

What's a good Christmas gift for someone who works from home?

Something that fixes a daily annoyance. Rechargeable hand warmers (#1) for a cold home office, an insulated mug (#2) for drinks that go cold, or a wrist rest (#3) or laptop stand (#4, #5) for comfort.

Why haven't you included a heated desk pad or Ember mug?

We looked at both. When we checked on 6 October 2026, the listings we found were US imports sold through Amazon’s Global Store, where the manufacturer warranty doesn’t apply, and UK buyers reported getting non-UK plugs. We’d rather not recommend something that needs an adaptor out of the box.

Should I buy someone a desk chair as a gift?

Usually not as a surprise, because chairs are personal and need to fit the person. We cover chairs in their own guide. A wrist rest or laptop stand is a safer gift.
