Monitor arms

Best monitor arms for ultrawide monitors (UK, 2026): 34-inch to 49-inch

Ultrawides are heavy, wide and often curved, and most monitor arms aren't built for them. These nine are sorted by screen size, with the weight limits that actually decide whether an arm will hold your screen.

An ultrawide is the best upgrade I can think of for a gaming or streaming desk, but its stand eats half the desk. A good arm gives you that space back, as long as it can actually hold the thing. The big mistake is buying on screen size alone: weight is what matters, and a 49-inch super-ultrawide can weigh twice as much as a 34-inch. So I’ve sorted these by screen size, and every pick lists its weight range so you can check it against your monitor. (Here’s how we choose products.)

  • Best for a 34-inch ultrawide: Ergotron LX (#1)
  • Best budget 34-inch arm: BONTEC 13–34" (#3)
  • Best for 38–45-inch screens: BenQ Ergo arm (#6)
  • Best for a Samsung Odyssey G9: Ergotron HX HD (#7)
  • Best for 57-inch screens and future dual setups: ULTRARM heavy duty (#9)

Best for 34-inch

1. Ergotron LX Premium Monitor Arm (45-241-026)

by Ergotron

Who it’s for: Anyone with a 34-inch ultrawide who wants the arm they’ll never have to think about again.

Verdict: The LX is the arm everyone else gets compared to, and for a 34-inch ultrawide it’s our pick. It covers 3.2–11.3kg, which takes in most 34-inch panels, lifts the screen up to 44cm above the desk and comes with both a clamp and a grommet mount.

What we like

  • 3.2–11.3kg range covers most 34-inch ultrawides (check yours without its stand)
  • 33cm of lift, 360° rotation and 75° of tilt (per the listing)
  • Desk clamp for 10–60mm desks plus a grommet mount

Worth knowing

  • Tops out at 34 inches – bigger ultrawides need the HX (#7 or #8)

Easy tool-free mounting

2. ErGear Single Monitor Arm, 13–34" (EGDMA69B)

by ErGear

Who it’s for: Budget buyers with a lighter 34-inch ultrawide who want a full-motion arm without a fiddly install.

Verdict: A good-value, full-motion arm for lighter 34-inch screens. The tool-free VESA plate makes mounting the monitor easy, and you get a big tilt range (+80° to -50°) plus tidy clip-on cable management. Just check your screen’s weight: the 9kg limit rules out some heavier 34-inch panels.

What we like

  • Tool-free VESA plate for quick mounting (per the listing)
  • +80°/-50° tilt, ±90° swivel and 360° rotation
  • Clamp fits 0.99–6.5cm desks, grommet up to 7.5cm

Worth knowing

  • 9kg limit – lower than the other 34-inch picks, so weigh your monitor first

Best budget 34-inch arm

3. BONTEC Single Monitor Arm, 13–34" (MDM001A)

by BONTEC

Who it’s for: Anyone who just wants their 34-inch ultrawide off its stand and up at eye level without spending much.

Verdict: If you just want the monitor off its stand and at the right height, this does the job for not much money. It takes up to 10kg, has a long 425mm height range and a clamp that fits desks from 10mm to a chunky 85mm. Tilt is limited to ±15°, so it’s more ‘set it and forget it’ than an arm you move about all day.

What we like

  • Up to 10kg on a budget arm (per the listing)
  • Clamp and grommet both fit 10–85mm desks, handy for thick desktops
  • 425mm of height adjustment and 360° rotation

Worth knowing

  • Only ±15° of tilt
  • No warranty length given on the listing

3-year warranty on a budget

4. VIVO Single Monitor Arm (STAND-V001)

by VIVO

Who it’s for: People who set their monitor once and leave it, and want a simple, sturdy steel arm with a solid warranty.

Verdict: A really popular, no-fuss option. It’s a pole-mounted steel arm, so you set the height on the pole rather than gliding it about on a gas spring, but it handles ultrawides up to 38 inches and 10kg (22lb). The 3-year warranty is a nice bit of reassurance at this price.

What we like

  • Rated for ultrawides up to 38 inches (per the listing)
  • 3-year manufacturer warranty
  • +90° to -90° tilt, 360° swivel and rotation

Worth knowing

  • Pole-mounted, not gas spring – less smooth to reposition
  • 10kg (22lb) limit, so not for heavy 38-inch panels

Best for 38–40-inch

5. Invision MX450 Monitor Arm (24–40")

by Invision

Who it’s for: Anyone with a 34–40-inch ultrawide who wants smooth gas-spring movement from a UK brand.

Verdict: A strong mid-range pick from a UK brand. The gas spring takes 2–15kg, so it handles heavier 34-inch and 38-inch ultrawides that the budget arms can’t, and the +85°/-30° tilt is more range than you’ll probably ever use. Invision also offers a ‘Compatibility Promise’ if you’re not sure your screen will fit.

What we like

  • Gas spring for smooth, tool-free positioning (per the listing)
  • Rated 24–40 inches, with a wide weight range
  • UK brand with a 2-year warranty and a compatibility promise

Worth knowing

  • Not rated for 45–49-inch super-ultrawides on the listing

Best for 38–45-inch

6. BenQ Ergo Monitor Arm (gas spring, up to 45")

by BenQ

Who it’s for: Streamers and gamers with a big 38–45-inch ultrawide who want a big-brand arm that’ll also hold a webcam or light bar.

Verdict: BenQ knows monitors, and this arm covers a lot of ground: anything up to 45 inches and 2–20kg. Streamers will like that the listing says it holds a webcam and light bar too. It also comes with a steel reinforcement plate, so you can clamp it to a thinner or glass desk without damaging it.

What we like

  • 2–20kg range covers most 38–45-inch ultrawides (per the listing)
  • Steel reinforcement plate protects thin or glass desks
  • Listing says it holds a webcam and light bar
  • Quick-release VESA plate and a 2-year warranty

Best for Samsung Odyssey G9

7. Ergotron HX HD Heavy Duty Monitor Arm (45-647-216)

by Ergotron

Who it’s for: Anyone with a 49-inch super-ultrawide like the Samsung Odyssey G9 who wants it mounted properly, once.

Verdict: This is the arm the 49-inch crowd ends up with. The listing names the Samsung Odyssey G9 directly, and it comes with the heavy-duty pivot those deep-curve 1000R screens need, rated for 12.7–19.1kg. It’s a big spend, but it’s an Ergotron with a 10-year warranty holding a very expensive monitor. That’s money well spent.

What we like

  • Listing names the Samsung Odyssey G9 as compatible
  • HD pivot for 1000R curved screens included in the box
  • 12.7–19.1kg range for the heaviest ultrawides
  • 10-year warranty (per the listing)

Worth knowing

  • 12.7kg minimum – too strong for lighter screens, which won’t stay put
  • Only 20° of tilt, because of the heavy-duty pivot
  • A premium-priced arm

Best for big flat screens

8. Ergotron HX Heavy Duty Monitor Arm, standard pivot (45-475-216)

by Ergotron

Who it’s for: People with a big, heavy screen that’s flat or only slightly curved, including monitors with larger VESA patterns.

Verdict: The same heavy-duty HX arm with the standard pivot. That gives you more tilt (75°) and support for larger VESA patterns up to 200×200, which suits big flat monitors and gently curved ultrawides. If yours is a deep-curve G9, get the HD version above: the listing says the G9 needs the separate heavy-duty pivot.

What we like

  • 9.1–19.1kg, a slightly lower minimum than the HD version
  • Fits VESA 75, 100, 200×100 and 200×200 (per the listing)
  • 75° of tilt and a 10-year warranty

Worth knowing

  • Not for 1000R screens like the Odyssey G9 without the extra HD pivot
  • Still too strong for light monitors under 9.1kg

Rated up to 57-inch

9. ULTRARM Heavy Duty Monitor Arm for Ultrawide (MA20PW-S)

by ULTRARM

Who it’s for: Owners of the very biggest ultrawides, like 57-inch dual-4K panels, or anyone planning to stack a second screen later.

Verdict: The pick for the really big screens: the listing rates it for ultrawides up to 57 inches and 20kg (44lb), curved down to 1000R. The clever bit is the modular base, which can be upgraded later to hold two stacked 49-inch ultrawides or a triple setup. That makes it a good long-term buy if your desk keeps growing.

What we like

  • Rated for screens up to 57 inches and 20kg (per the listing)
  • Modular: upgradable to dual or triple monitors
  • 13 inches of gas-spring height adjustment and a quick-release VESA plate
  • 2-year manufacturer warranty

Worth knowing

  • Only ±25° of tilt and 180° of rotation
  • A big, tall arm – overkill for a 34-inch

Buying guide

How to pick an arm for an ultrawide

  1. Weigh your monitor without its stand. It’s on the manufacturer’s spec page, usually listed as “weight without stand”. This number decides everything.
  2. Match it to the arm’s weight range, minimum included. Heavy-duty arms won’t hold a light screen still.
  3. Check the VESA pattern. Most ultrawides use 100×100. Some have a recessed mount that needs spacers.
  4. Check the curve. Deep 1000R screens like the Odyssey G9 need a pivot rated for them.
  5. Measure your desk. Clamp ranges vary from about 1cm up to 8.5cm.

Sharing a streaming desk with a mic arm

On a streaming setup, the monitor arm, mic arm, camera and lights all fight for the same desk edge. Clamp the monitor arm in the middle at the back, and put your mic arm on the side you talk from. If you’re still picking one, our best mic arms under £50 lists clamp ranges too.

What we left out and why

  • Secretlab MAGNUS arms: sold direct by Secretlab, with no Amazon UK listing we could link to.
  • Dual-monitor arms (BONTEC, TVON and others): they’re a different buy, so they’re getting their own guide.
  • HUANUO heavy-duty 49" arm: it was on our shortlist, but Amazon UK showed it as currently unavailable with no restock date when we checked on 6 October. We’ll look at it again if it comes back.
  • Amazon Basics monitor arm: it’s in stock and sold by Amazon, but it’s only rated for 10kg and screens up to 38 inches, and the 34-inch picks above already cover that size with more choice.

Prices change all the time. We don’t show prices on What2Buy – use the “Check price on Amazon” buttons for the current price.

FAQ

How do I know if a monitor arm will hold my ultrawide?

Check three things: your monitor’s weight without its stand (it’s on the manufacturer’s spec sheet), its VESA pattern (usually 75×75 or 100×100) and the arm’s weight range. The screen size on the box matters less than the weight.

What's the best monitor arm for a Samsung Odyssey G9?

The Ergotron HX HD (#7). Its listing names the Odyssey G9 directly and it includes the heavy-duty pivot that 1000R screens need. The standard Ergotron HX (#8) needs a separate HD pivot for the G9.

Can a monitor arm be too strong for my screen?

Yes. Heavy-duty arms have a minimum weight too: 12.7kg for the Ergotron HX HD, for example. A light monitor on a strong gas spring will drift upwards and won’t stay where you put it.

Can I rotate an ultrawide to portrait on an arm?

Physically, sometimes, but many arms limit it. Check the listing for any rotation limit before you plan on it. In practice, very few people run a 34-inch or wider ultrawide in portrait.

Will a monitor arm fit my desk?

Check the clamp range against your desk thickness, and make sure there’s no frame or crossbar under the edge where the clamp goes. Most picks here also include a grommet mount if your desk has a cable hole.
