A mic arm is the cheapest way to sound better on stream: it puts the mic close to your mouth, frees up desk space and stops every keyboard thump travelling up a desk stand. Every arm here was listed at under £50 on Amazon UK when we shortlisted it (October 2026). Prices change, so use the buttons to check today’s price. (Here’s how we choose products.)

Budget arm reviews complain about the same two things over and over – the clamp doesn’t fit the desk and the arm sags under a heavy mic. So for each pick we’ve pulled the desk thickness and maximum load from the listing.

  • Budget scissor arms: #1 to #5 (simple, budget-friendly spring arms)
  • Low-profile arms: #6 to #10 (they sit below your monitor and stay out of shot)

  • Folds away small; reaches up to 29 inches (about 74cm)

Buying guide

Scissor arm or low-profile?

  • Scissor arms (#1–#5): the budget option – classic scissor arms with springs. They do the job well for most USB mics; they’re just more visible on camera.
  • Low-profile arms (#6–#10): cost a bit more. They sit low behind your desk, run under the monitor and keep your webcam shot clean.

The two numbers to check

  1. Desk clamp range. Measure your desk edge before you order.
  2. Maximum load. Add up your mic plus any shock mount. If you’re close to the limit, size up – an arm at its limit will slowly droop.

Worth stretching for?

If your budget can go beyond £50, the streamer-brand arms such as the Elgato Wave Mic Arm LP and the RØDE PSA1+ are popular step-ups. We haven’t included them here because they were over £50 when we shortlisted this list.

Mic arms for a Blue Yeti

The Blue Yeti (now sold as the Logitech G Yeti) is one of the most popular USB mics people put on an arm, and it’s heavier than most. Logitech’s Yeti specifications put the mic at 0.55kg on its own, plus any shock mount you add. The spring arms here all list maximum loads above that, but a budget arm working near its limit is the one that slowly droops mid-stream, so go for headroom: the Aokeo AK-35 (#1) and AK-55 (#7) list 1.8kg and 2kg. The Yeti also mounts from the bottom of the mic itself, so, as Custom PC’s Yeti review points out, you take it off its desk stand rather than putting the whole thing on the arm.

One catch: the TODI’s (#9) listing says it doesn’t fit the Yeti Orb or Yeti X, so owners of those should pick another arm.

Pair it with the right mic

An arm only helps if the mic is good. See our best streaming microphones under £50 – most of them screw straight onto these arms.

Prices change all the time. We don’t show prices on What2Buy – use the “Check price on Amazon” buttons for the current price.

FAQ

Will a mic arm fit my desk?

Measure the thickness of your desk edge. Where the listings give a clamp range, it goes from up to 5cm (Amazon Basics) to about 9cm (Yazoni). Glass desks and desks with a lip underneath can be a problem for any clamp.

Will it hold a Blue Yeti?

Yes, if you leave some headroom. Logitech lists the original Yeti at 0.55kg for the mic alone, so arms rated well above that, like the Aokeo AK-35 (about 1.8kg) or AK-55 (2kg), are the safe picks. If you have a Yeti Orb or Yeti X, skip the TODI: its listing says it doesn’t fit them. More detail in the Blue Yeti section below.

Scissor arm or low-profile arm?

Scissor arms are cheaper and reach over the desk from above. Low-profile arms cost more but run under your monitor, so they stay out of your webcam shot and look tidier on stream.

What's the 3/8 vs 5/8-inch thing?

Those are the two common screw sizes for mics and mounts. Most arms here come with an adapter for both, so you’re usually covered – but check if your mic uses an unusual thread.

Are these prices guaranteed to be under £50?

No. Everything here was listed at under £50 on Amazon UK when we shortlisted it, but Amazon prices change constantly. Always check the current price on Amazon before you buy – that’s why we don’t print prices on the page.
